This website provides information to the general public about bowel problems and conditions related to the back passage.

These problems are often embarrassing and difficult to talk to anyone about. Even your own GP. By providing this online resource it is our aim to give you confidence to seek a consultation with a Consultant or your GP. Most common problems are featured and each page is laid out in an easy to read question and answer format.

Also provided is information on keyhole or laparoscopic surgery.  This type of surgery is the usually the same as conventional surgery but avoids large cuts and scars on the belly.  It can now be used for gallbladder surgery, hernias and bowel surgery.

It is important to stress that this information is designed to inform and not replace a consultation with a properly qualified healthcare professional.

Although primarily aimed at the general public, the clinical information has also been helpful to medical students, nurses and GPs.
